Meet Diego
Diego is a Belgian Malinois. He was born
October 22, 2020, and is Covina's newest K-9 officer. Diego was placed in service May 2028.
Diego's partner and handler is Esteban Ortega.
Officer Esteban Ortega was hired by the Covina Police Dept in 2019. He earned his K-9 Advanced Agitator Certificate with the hope of becoming a canine handler during his career. Ortega's support of Covina Police Department's K-9 Program and his proactive law enforcement mentality earned him the position of K-9 Handler. In March 2023 Ortega met Diego, his Belgian Malinois partner.
They look forward to serving our community. If you see them out on the street shout out a "HI".
